Connecticut offers some of the best saltwater fishing in the
northeast.
From the Connecticut River, to the many rock piles that fill Fishers
Island Sound, to the heavy currents and rips found in Eastern
Connecticut Shores.
Fishing
in Connecticut offers variety !
Fluke, Weakfish, Striped Bass, Bluefish, Blackfish, Sea Bass, Porgies,
False Albacore and Bonito...
The fishing starts in late April and continues through November and
encompasses fly fishing, jigging, plugging and live-lining.
Saltwater fishing
From May through October the BIG stripers are on the reefs.
Bluefish arrive in good numbers in early June. Both fluke and
porgy heat up in June. By mid-September it is time for false
albacore tuna

From the Connecticut River starting in northern New Hampshire and
framing the border of Vermont and New Hampshire, flows through
Massachusetts and Connecticut before meeting the coast at Long Island
Sound. The Connecticut River offers a vast and varied fishery. From the
Connecticut Lakes State Forest, the river flows south as the border of
New Hampshire and Vermont, entering Connecticut near Thompsonville.
As the river flows past Windsor Locks, Hartford and Middletown, it
offers good shad runs, lunker catfish, and a bass fishery.
There are Atlantic salmon restoration projects on the river and
several streams. Visit the Connecticut River for striped bass
just after dark. Black crappie action or northern pike
fishing. Fishing at Enfield, the Harbor Park area, Haddam Meadows
and Salmon River Cove.
From the beautiful rainbow trout in a cold stream, to the massive
stripers and bluefish off the New England coast along with
blackfish, sea bass, porgies, bonito and false albacore.
Large mouth bass in Aspinook, Halls, Gorton's or Lake Waramaug.
Small mouth bass are found in Candlewood, Highland or Squantz
Pond. Northern pike in Bantam Lake, Winchester Lake,
Quaddick Reservoir or Pachaug Pond. Fish for walleye at
Candlewood Lake, Gardner Lake, Rogers Lake, Lake Saltonstall.
Whatever your fishing interest The Long Island Sound and various inshore
inlets, offshore banks, wrecks, reefs, bays, rivers or lakes.....Fishing
in Connecticut offers enough of a reason to wet your line !
